Sturgeon Fishing 2013-2014 Summarized

I just want to say thanks to all of the anglers who came out sturgeon fishing in the last 5 months.
We caught some fish; we popped some cherries and made some pretty memorable moments.
I like sturgeon fishing. It’s challenging and offers adventure so close to home.
It takes skill and definitely time on the water to master not only the essential tasks of rigging gear but finding and hunting down these large dinosaurs.  My crew and I work hard to give our passengers a positive experience.  My goal is to make it better.  We caught 75 keepers in 20 weeks of fishing.  Not a bad overall score.
This year we had to overcome a few situations.  Bait was our main challenge. We had problems getting salmon roe of the right variety.  We started with some great stuff and finished with cured ocean roe.  The ocean roe isn't

my first choice in bait. Lamprey eel was our second best bait of the season.
In the future we will try and get more of the essentials as the season goes on and preparation will be a focus for 2014 sturgeon.
The new boat proved itself this sturgeon season. The BARBARIAN II is economical and big enough and comfortable enough to allow our attention to be more focused on the fish rather than boat problems.
The drought was probably the most talked about issue of the season.  The drought really confused the customers more than the fish.   I think anglers were skeptical as they listened to fishing information that really isn't true. I think we proved this year you don’t need rain to catch sturgeon and you don’t need muddy water.  In the future I hope anglers will be more willing to fish realizing that sturgeon fishing can be good without terrible winter conditions.  BOOK A TRIP! The adventure is well worth the money.

Thanks to everyone who made this sturgeon season a successful one.
