It’s been a long season.

 

I have been relaxing for the last 3 weeks.  I haven’t even looked at the boat.  The long days in the ocean, week after week, took its toll on me both mentally and physically.

  Our fishery is great because about the time your board with one fishery it’s time to start thinking about the next one. 

   Sturgeon fishing is next on the menu. We spend long days on anchor, watching the amazing sunsets in the California Delta.  We hunt sturgeon.    Actually looking for fish getting on top of them and coaxing them to bite is a challenge worth the money.  On big boats (Party Boats) you’re at the Captains mercy when it comes to sturgeon. Did you stop on fish or didn’t you?

  On the BARBARIAN we have 2 large monitors to look for fish. A Raytheon C-120 and Lowrance HDs 10

Both are GPS and Fish finder combinations.  You get to see not only the fish on the fish finder but you get to see the terrain they are in at that time.  It literally makes you part of the search. 

  People fish differently, fish bite and of course sometimes they don’t, all the variables seem easier to contend with early in the season rather than later.

  Fall is sturgeon time.  Contrary to the BS you have heard the weather doesn’t have to be cold and dreary to hook sturgeon.  The better months are early. As autumn sets the wind seems to die down and the fish roam the bays in search of food before the cold water of winter sets in.

Sturgeon fishing is one of those activities that Grandpa would love.  Not a bunch of waves and wakes to deal with.  I don’t like to fish in bad weather either.   I can’t think of a better way to share a day with buddies or your family.  Sturgeon fishing is an adventure worth enjoying.  

 Sturgeon is a fair meat to enjoy on the dinner table.  It’s firm and worthy of the grill, the pan or your fryer.  We encourage you to only take what you think you need. When it comes to eating it, if you have sturgeon in the freezer eat it before you come back looking for more to plug your freezer with.  Freezer burnt fish is good for nothing. It even makes crappy fertilizer.

  A sure fire way to mess up your KARMA is being greedy…… 

I’m opening the book and currently booking sturgeon trips.  We only fish Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. 

 I do not fish Saturday or Sunday!
