I walk a lonely road
The only one I’ve ever known
Don’t know where it goes
But its home to me and I walk alone

STURGEON Fishing, ITS ON!
It’s lonely up here.
I finally scratched up enough bait to do a sturgeon trip.
I had a couple of guys that wanted to get a sturgeon on Wednesday but they had some lady problems, causing them to miss our Wednesday outing.
I found a passenger, yes 1 passenger, to go out and look for some sturgeon.
The plan was to get the boat ready for sturgeon and get out on the river to find a pattern.
I looked at every stretch of ground from Benicia to Chain Island. I found fish everywhere. The most impressive group of fish is Roe and Ryer Island and Pittsburg PGE plant.
These are the normal locations you will find sturgeon early in the year. They have a tendency to pile up here as water is released from the dams the fish are pushed to deeper holes.
This week I found them at the PGE plant in Antioch. I found them on a gradual hump in 51 foot of water just upriver from the cable lines that stretch across the river bottom.

I’m confident we can stay on these fish and limits or close to limits on sturgeon is more of a reality then a possibility.
On Thursday, My friend Pat and I anchored up and caught 5 keepers in an hours’ worth of fishing. We only used 7 baits and had doubles on 2 times. This was at the beginning of the ebb.
Call me a.s.a.p. I’ll be fishing the next 2 weeks as work gets a little hectic towards the end of October.
First 2 to hit the deck |
